The Boardsmith Organic Cutting Board Care Kit provides a plant-based cutting board conditioner and oil for maintaining cutting boards, butcher blocks, and wooden kitchen tools.
The best way to care for a butcher block is with a combination of Cutting Board Oil and Board Butter. Cutting Board Oil penetrates deeply into wood fibers and Board Butter is a great surface protectant that also give the board a nice luster.
Formulated with Organic fractionated coconut oil derived exclusively from coconuts and 100% pure beeswax this blend penetrates wood fibers to restore moisture while forming a protective barrier that helps prevent drying and cracking.
Our beeswax contains no paraffin fillers, and our oil is never derived from palm, ensuring simple, transparent ingredients. Our beeswax is sourced from a beekeeper and conservationist in Ohio we've worked with for years. Most beeswax these days is sourced from China, and is often adulterated with large percentages of paraffin and stearin. Ours, on the other hand, is 100% beeswax sourced exclusively in the U.S. (typically from hives in Ohio, North Dakota, and Idaho).
A small amount of Organic rosemary antioxidant extract helps slow oxidation and maintain product freshness. This is a more natural, single source product than Vitamin E. It is also more expensive, but it was important to us to provide our customers with the best Organic product.
For years our mineral oil formulas have been a trusted standard for wood care. This organic version simply provides an alternative for customers who prefer plant-based ingredients.
Includes Organic Cutting Board Butter (a mixture of conditioning Beeswax and Organic Fractionated Coconut Oil in a resealable tub) and Organic Cutting Board Oil (Organic Fractionated Coconut Oil in a resealable bottle). *Due to the methods of organic extraction there may be very small coconut fibers within the oil and board butter*
*As a point of reference, an un-oiled 16 X 22 maple butcher block can typically hold 12-14 ounces of cutting board oil. Boardsmith butcher blocks have been oiled prior to shipping, but they still need heavy initial oiling when you receive them.
How to use:
Thoroughly clean, sanitize, and dry the cutting surface of your board. Pour Cutting Board Oil on face of the board an ounce or two at a time until oil can no longer absorb into the board. This process might take a few minutes. Let dry and wipe away any excess. Using a soft cloth apply a quarter-sized dab of Board Butter and rub in. Finish by buffing off any excess butter.
This product is intended to be an add on item. Due to the weight of the cutting board care kit, we must charge for shipping when it is ordered on its own. To save on shipping, consider ordering with one of our other items to reach the free shipping minimum.
Note: Because these are consumable items, care products can not be returned.

Happy to see a plant-based alternative to mineral oil, and the tin for the butter is a great touch. Please consider taking it one step further and put the oil in a glass bottle. Oil pulls additives out of plastic more readily than water does, so the plastic packaging is working against what this product offering is trying to achieve (a safer, healthier, alternative). I understand glass costs more and can break, but I would pay for it. Nevertheless, I appreciate this offering and hope it evolves when possible. Thank you.
This is a high quality heirloom cutting board that is gorgeous to look at and even better to use. My knife glides across the surface and the craftsmanship is second to none. Well worth the price.
Poorly packaged. The oil leaked during shipment and soaked the box
this board is worth the price. you can feel it the first time you use your knife to cut on it. it feels 'softer' against the blade. i am sure it is better for my knives!
Great start for our board!
