Occasionally we have a pretty board that has a few more voids or mineral streaks than we'd like to see on what we consider our premium boards. As we know from Wisdom Behind the Wood, almost all Maple has mineral streaks. It is the nature of Maple. We try to minimize them when we can, but they don't affect quality, form or function. But we give them a little discount because they might not match everyone's personal aesthetic preference.
In the case of this board, there aren't really mineral spots - it's more that the grain pattern is a little chaotic. This grain pattern is actually very typical for cherry, but not everyone appreciates the look, thus the small discount.
Feet will NOT come standard on this board, but if you order a set we will be happy to install them for you.
