A wind check is an internal fracture or separation that runs along the tree's annual growth rings, caused by severe wind stress on a living tree. They are characteristic because the checking is perfectly perpendicular to the annulary rays in the wood grain. Those checks exist at a microscopic level throughout all hard maple, but sometimes become visible. They will not affect the function or safety of the board. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis board already comes equipped with a Juice Groove. Finger Grooves and\/or engraving are also available for a small fee.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eFeet will NOT come standard on this board, but if you order a set we will be happy to install them for you.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eMost maple has mineral marks within the wood. It is how the tree goes with its unique idiosyncrasies. Since Maple is a lighter wood, those mineral streaks are very visible. These marks can't totally be avoided. In this case, the board is very \"clean\", meaning few mineral marks are visible.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eMaple cutting boards need a lot of oil, so please don't forget to add a care kit!
