Every board in this collection is end grain: the wood fibers stand upright, so your knife slips between them instead of cutting across them. That keeps your edges sharper and lets the surface close back up after each cut. Read end grain vs. edge grain for the full story.
We build them in Hard Maple, Black Walnut and Black Cherry, three domestic hardwoods chosen for durability and knife feel; the Janka scale explains how they compare. Each block is made to order in our Frisco, Texas shop. With a little care and an occasional coat of Board Butter, it will last a lifetime.
